It’s been a while since I got a new monitor, so I’ve been stuck with a 15 incher. Sure it’s adequate, but sometimes I wish it just had more screen real estate. Since a lot of what I do involves Firefox, I decided to optimize it to get more screen space. And Since I’m feeling daring, I’ve decided to use Firefox 3 beta 2 for the project because it’s more of a lean mean browser than the old one. So here we go.
What you need
So first lets start with getting Firefox 3 and a few programs. I started by getting Personal Menu so I can hide the menu bar, and access it from a small button. Then I got myself ChromeEdit plus to auto-hide buttons and the bookmark bar when not needed. Now that we have the tools, let’s get cracking. (more…)

What can better match my moleskine than an awesome flexible pen? I’ve always wanted a small pen I can carry around everywhere. This will solve my problem because it can flex so I can put it in my back pocket. To make it cooler, it even retracts! And don’t worry, if the pen breaks, there are many layers of paper to stop it from bleeding on your awesome pants. So let’s get started
What You Need
- a scissor or an x-acto blade and the like
- a ruler
- tape

Today I’ve bought myself some of Moleskine. I was dying to try it out seeing how most designer I know uses them. It has been said it gives the user magical power to kill things some help for inspiration. The Moleskine website said that it’s been used by people from Vincent van Gogh to Ernest Hemingway. So I totally gave in to peer pressure and got a black cahier to use for “field notes”.
The 50 Cent
It wasn’t extraordinary but you can tell it’s different than other pocket notebooks. Especially because I normally buy mine from the 99 cent store being the cheap Asian I am. It’s quite a step up. Although I am a bit disappointed by this one specific notebook. It could be normal but, the end of the string is sticking out(for a lack of a better word. It’s just unpleasant to me and I ended up cutting it. (more…)

Yesterday, while looking for tablet hacks, I found this neat program which allows you to create music with my wacom tablet. It’s basically a midi controller and a theremin. It’s pretty interesting to play with. I mean more reason to buy a tablet right? Here’s a more in depth collection which includes programs for mac and windows.
The Wmidi
This program allows you to do many things. It has a collection of 128 instruments and numerous scales from Japanese Ichikosuko to the major scales. The tone also ranges from C-2 to C8. How loud the tone is depends on the pressure you’re giving the tablet. You can also use it to control midi from other programs. Manipulating using colors from an image, the tilt, pressure and angle. And hey, it’s free. How much better can it be?
