I agree. They really need to work on signals here in the US. I'm not sure how well it works in the Europe, but it might be better because its a German brand if I do recall correctly. Although they're not very useful, it's still a nice thing to have just in case. But yes, it's not an excuse.

<strike>Damn this website is hot! No?</strike>
I bought my GPS just 3 months ago and it took me MORE THAN 2 HOURS to find the satellite signal. When I got back home I had it ... euh... "repaired" ... The problem is still there... the same time to find the signal. I don't think it's just bad luck I had ... After reading your comments I think it's just the model which is not a good one. It's just full of useless devices for travelling (photographs, music) but the most necessary utilities for a GPS (quickness in findind the signal) don't work ...

Unfortunately, I don't know how to get updated maps from Becker. But as I stated in my post there is a way to add other maps that's not proprietary to this Becker. Try searching on youtube. There are many videos on the hack. Refer to the Hack portion of the post. Good luck!

This was very interesting information. I've had this unit for over 2 years now and it's worked well but...I can't get Becker to respond with updated maps. Any instructions on adding current maps for the US? I travel a lot and need current maping details.

Thanks

Unfortunately you're going to need the CD that should have came with your GPS. If you have that, it is straightforward. You just have to copy and paste the map file from the cd into a new SD card. It doesn't require anything special.

Damn this website is hot!
I got the 7934 as a sratch and dent with no maps or intstall dvd. I have tried for a few days to find usa+canada maps to no avail. the main site for usa has none and all phone numbers links are in-operable. I'm glad that it can be tweaked because that apears to be the only way I will get maps..Now its back on me to tweak my non skills hahahha

Sorry for the late replies
@Lucy, Thanks again! Major oopsies on my part.
@Devon, True I though about that too.
@Sean, In a world of annorexic... well I don't think it's that big of a deal seeing how it's not going to be in your pocket a lot unlike mp3s and cellphones.

The mood lights are a nice touch but IMO it's kind of weird to have a blue mood light when the whole gui is red. They should have added a blue theme to the device.
