PortaPro's little brother
Although I love my in ear Skullcandy Ink’d Smokin Buds, they are quite a fragile thing. Almost everyone I know that has bought them has bought more than one pair because they had broken their first pair. After about one and a half year of using it almost everyday, mine finally broke. So as I was in the market to get some new buds, I decided to get a portable headphone instead of an iem (in-ear monitor, eg. smokin buds). My choice was the Koss SportaPro portable headphones. It retails at $30, but can be easily bought for around $20.

How to create a 3d styled graphic in Photoshop
In the season of giving, I would like to share with you this Photoshop tutorial I made. I hope you have a Happy Holiday!
A while ago I saw a cool illustration made by Adam Woodhouse and I was inspired to take a crack at something similar. I hope the tutorial will teach you to mimick the 3d style using only photoshop. This will be especially useful for people who don’t have a special 3d program. We will be using a lot of clipping mask and creativity. (more…)

It’s ok guys, I am not dead yet! Neither am I lost, because I have my trusty Becker Traffic Assist Highspeed GPS (Also known as Becker Traffic Assist Highspeed 7934 GPS outside of the US) with me! Well not really because of it but it makes a good intro doesn’t it? So like what you would expect from me I got this gps on sale and it was a pretty good deal. I know it’s not the usual Tom Tom or Garmin (it’s a German brand so it is not as common on this side of the Atlantic) but it’s a pretty good gps overall. The device has a 3.5″ touch screen with a 400MHz processor and an SD card slot for the map and storage and runs on Navteq and Navigon. The device officially can view pictures and play mp3/wma; but if you’re into hacking you can do so much more. More on that later.

So a couple of weeks ago was my friend’s birthday. Of course like any cheap frugal artistic person, I decided I was going to make him something. After all anything I buy at the store, he can get himself right? And like they always say, it’s the thought that counts. So a couple weeks before his birthday I found this great tutorial for leaf script. I thought, hey why not try it out?

So a couple of days ago, I decided my computer was starting to lag too much and I should reinstall it. The original plan was to create a new partition (using my trusty sysresccd which has qtparted. A free hard drive partitioner that can resize ntfs.) on my hard drive to place all my files into and reformat the other partition. Then after reinstalling the OS I would place the file back, then join all the partition back. Sounds great right? On paper it did, but when I went ahead and executed it, a big giant head exploding problem happened. My computer crashed while partitioning. Naturally my first hope was to check if my files was still there, no dice. At that point a part of me died. (more…)

Yes Jonathan is back from the dead. How does the new skin feel? Well its now 100% done.
What’s with the new theme? Well one of the biggest thing I hate about most wordpress theme is that most of the time you need to write a relatively long post. I hope to solve that with this theme. Inspired by microblog such as Tumblr. I hope you like it.
As with my latest trend, I love making color changes to section background. I hope my latest experiment add some spice to the theme. But Can it be to opaque or transparent? Critisize and report bugs in the comments please =D. Pretty please? With a “left over turkey” on top?
Happy Black Friday! (How was your shopping?)

This is the one where Jon talks about his new blog design.
It has been about 4 months since 53M1 first launched. I think it is finally time for a new design. After drawing many random sketches of the new theme, I decided to go with this one. So without further ado, I present you with the changes beneath the comestics.
For those who are lazy there is a bullet point summarizing all this below all this.
First of all, yes it is still running under Wordpress 2.1. It is also based on another design based on Scott Wallick’s “brilliantness”. In this case Simplr.
One of the obvious new features is the “summary of the post” if that’s what you want to call it. If you don’t know, it’s that grey box above this post, and beneath the post title. It is as the name suggest, the “summary of the post…”. It was inspired by non other then Bryan Veloso of Avalonstar.
I have removed the then dying “elsewhere” with just my Del.icio.us account since I update del.icio.us more anyway. Scroll down for the links. I have also removed the dying twitter for now.
I have also included my Flickr feed beside my del.icio.us links.
The new comment theme is similar to Stammy’s. No I did not steal his code. It is a template from a tutorial that I found a couple days ago.
I have also removed the Digg button, since it was sadly useless.
Now for the lazy arses that was not lazy to scroll down to my wrap up, a simple bullet point!

Hope you like the new theme! Tell me what you think =D

Sometimes the truth is stranger than the fiction
A while ago, I stumbled upon this interesting math concept. The equation below proves that 2 is equal to 1; but we know for a fact that 2 does not equal to 1. So what’s wrong with this equation? Can you figure it out?
a = x [true for some a's and x's]
a+a = a+x [add a to both sides]
2a = a+x [a+a = 2a]
2a-2x = a+x-2x [subtract 2x from both sides]
2(a-x) = a+x-2x [2a-2x = 2(a-x)]
2(a-x) = a-x [x-2x = -x]
2 = 1 [divide both sides by a-x]
Answers/hints will be given at the bottom of the post. But before I show you the answer, here are some more interesting brain teasers! (more…)

Advertisement, The American Heritage dictionary defines it as,
1. The act of advertising.
2. A notice, such as a poster or a paid announcement in the print, broadcast, or electronic media, designed to attract public attention or patronage.
Obviously, definition #1 still holds true. But definition #2 are somewhat questionable. Why? because it says “PAID ANNOUNCEMENT”. Apparently, this is not true. Consider the following…
